Invisalign clear aligners for teens and adults — provided by our experienced, fully licensed dentists in Aurora, Ontario. Comfortable, removable, and virtually invisible.

If you're considering straightening your teeth, here's everything you need to know about the most popular clear aligner system in the world.
Invisalign is a teeth-straightening system that uses a series of custom-made, clear plastic aligners instead of metal brackets and wires. Each set of aligners is worn for about 1–2 weeks before progressing to the next set in the sequence. Over the course of treatment, your teeth gradually shift into the position your dentist has planned using 3D digital imaging.
The aligners are made from SmartTrack®, a patented thermoplastic material developed specifically by Align Technology. It's BPA-free, FDA-cleared, and engineered to apply gentle, consistent force to your teeth — which is what makes the movement predictable.
Orthodontic tooth movement works through a process called bone remodelling. When steady, light pressure is applied to a tooth, the bone on the pressure side gradually resorbs (breaks down), while new bone forms on the opposite side. This is the same biological process used by traditional braces — Invisalign just delivers the force differently.
Each aligner is slightly different from the last, moving specific teeth by approximately 0.25 mm per stage. Small attachments — tooth-coloured bumps bonded to certain teeth — give the aligners extra grip for more complex movements like rotations or vertical shifts.
Not all clear aligners are created equal. Invisalign has been on the market since 1997 and has treated over 17 million patients worldwide. The key differentiators are:
When there isn't enough room in the jaw for teeth to fit normally, causing overlap and twisting.
Spaces between teeth caused by missing teeth, jaw growth patterns, or habits like tongue thrusting.
Upper front teeth overlap the lower teeth more than normal, sometimes causing jaw pain or uneven wear.
Lower teeth sit in front of upper teeth. Mild to moderate cases can often be corrected with aligners.
Some upper teeth sit inside the lower teeth rather than outside. Can cause chipping and uneven wear.
Upper and lower teeth don't meet when the mouth is closed. Can affect chewing and speech.
Not every case is suited for clear aligners. Complex cases involving severe jaw misalignment or surgical needs are best handled by an orthodontic specialist — and we'll tell you up front if that applies to you.
Custom-fit clear aligners are designed to move your teeth gradually into a more comfortable, healthier position — without the look or feel of traditional metal braces.
Thin, clear aligners fit snugly over your teeth. Most people won't notice you're wearing them.
Aligners are removable for meals, brushing and flossing — no food restrictions, no broken brackets.
No metal wires or brackets to irritate cheeks and gums. Switch trays at the schedule we set together.
Crooked, crowded, or gapped teeth, plus many bite issues — overbite, underbite, crossbite, open bite.
Whether your teen is starting high school with crooked teeth, or you've spent years wishing your smile looked different — Invisalign is designed for both.
Designed for active teen schedules — sports, music, photos, prom. Aligners come out for sports mouthguards and team pictures.
Most of our Invisalign patients are adults who never had braces — or who had them years ago and are seeing some teeth shift back.
A few of the most common cases our dentists help patients work through. Every smile is different — your individual results depend on your specific case and how consistently aligners are worn.

Photos shown are stock imagery used to illustrate the kinds of cases we help with. Treatment timelines vary based on your specific case and consistency of aligner wear. Your dentist will discuss realistic expectations at your free consultation.
Meet with one of our dentists. We'll examine your teeth, discuss your goals, and tell you honestly whether Invisalign is the right option for you.
If you decide to go ahead, we create a 3D digital scan of your teeth — no messy moulds — and walk you through a preview of your treatment plan.
You'll progress through a sequence of custom aligners. We check in periodically to make sure your teeth are tracking the plan.
Both Invisalign and traditional wire braces are clinically proven methods of moving teeth into place. They work in different ways, suit different cases, and each has trade-offs.
Most patients we see are great candidates for Invisalign. For some complex orthodontic cases, traditional braces remain the better tool — and we'll tell you honestly if that's the case for you.
Our dentists are general dentists — fully licensed in Ontario, experienced in restorative and cosmetic care, and trained in the Invisalign system.

Invisalign cost varies based on the complexity of your case and the length of treatment. Every smile is different, so a one-size-fits-all price isn't honest.
You'll get a clear, written quote at the end of your free consultation — with no obligation to proceed.
Many private dental plans cover a portion of orthodontic treatment, often up to a lifetime maximum. Coverage varies a lot between plans, so we always check your specific benefits before you commit.
We welcome CDCP (Canada Dental Care Plan) patients and will review your eligibility with you. Our front desk handles the insurance paperwork on your behalf.
Most cases take about 12 months. Simpler cases can be shorter — sometimes just a few months — and more complex cases can take up to two years or longer.
Staying on schedule depends largely on wearing your aligners 20 to 22 hours a day. Your dentist will give you an estimated duration after your scan.
Most patients describe mild pressure or tightness for a day or two after switching to a new aligner — that's the aligner doing its job. It generally eases quickly.
Invisalign tends to be more comfortable than traditional braces because there are no metal wires or brackets to irritate the inside of your mouth.
Yes — there's an Invisalign Teen program designed specifically for younger patients. It includes compliance indicators on each aligner so we (and you) can track wear time, plus replacement aligners in case any go missing.
Suitability depends on the case and on whether your teen will actually wear the aligners as directed. We'll assess this honestly at the consultation.
Both work by applying gentle, sustained force to move teeth into a better position. Braces use metal brackets bonded to your teeth with a wire running through them. Invisalign uses a sequence of clear, removable trays.
Invisalign is virtually invisible and removable for meals and brushing. Braces stay on the whole time and can be a better fit for very complex cases. At your consultation we'll be straight with you about which is the right tool for your situation.
Call us right away. Depending on where you are in your sequence, we'll either have you move to the next aligner early or go back to the previous one while we order a replacement.
To avoid this, always keep your aligners in their case when they're not in your mouth — never in a napkin, never loose in a bag.
Not always. Invisalign treatment can be provided by general dentists who are trained in the system. Our dentists at Aurora Family Dentistry are fully licensed, experienced, and Invisalign-trained — but we are a general dental practice, not an orthodontic specialty office.
For very complex orthodontic cases — for example, cases that need surgical jaw correction — we'll refer you to a specialist. We'd rather send you to the right person than overpromise.
